I started listening to him when "Be" came out, and I've explored a bunch of his raps from the past (which are amazing), but the beats of his music has been a LOT catchier ever since he and Kanye hooked up. CAN'T wait for Invincible Summer.

Re: Common

Damn, you got me. I was trying to keep it a secret too!

He is def one of those rare ones (like Mos, Talib, Kanye, Lupe that has managed to keep it conscious even after breaking into the mainstream. If it wasn't for his beard and scare roles in movies, I do think he would be featured on stuffwhitepeoplelike.com alongside Mos Def (http://stuffwhitepeoplelike... )!

Re: Common

Awww... Nirav has himself a man-crush, how cute.

I hadn't heard about Common until '05 I think, so naturally I was surprised to hear that he had already been in the game for more than a decade. You're certainly right about him hooking up with Kanye - this guy's career has been on a rocket ship ever since then. Common started in the underground, was in the midground for a while (if 'midground' wasn't an official term before, it is now), and now I think it's accurate to say he's in the mainstream, but none of those labels really matter as long as you're making quality music, which he seems to still be doing.
