This album is absolutely fantastic, bookended by my two favourite Supertramp songs 'School' and 'Crime of the Century.' However every song on this album is a masterpiece. I recommend people taking the time to listen to the entire album. because I think it can only be fully appreciated from Track 1 through to Track 8.

First time I ever listened to "School" totally blew me away... tracks like it DEFINE prog-rock and are what Supertramp really is... The logical song, dreamer, take the long way home, this is what we think of when most of us think of Supertramp, I liked Supertramp before but I did not know who they were until I heard this album.

It is a brilliant piece of work.

In this time of financial system failure, what more can I say but that the title song (Crime of the Century) is very prescient, including the lyrics: "...who are these men of lust, greed and glory, rip off their masks and let's see? but, oh no, what's the story? look , there's you and there's me.." Wonderful music that carries a message and a warning...

If you like this, give a listen to 10cc-Original Soundtrack. I have a boatload of Jethro Tull, but Stand Up is essential. Once you get past the title track of Aqualung, the rest is awe-inspiring in its range. Both of these are best in the audio DVD if you can't track down the vinyl.

You will also notice the great dynamic range of the "Crime Of The Century" recording. This is especially noticed if you listen to a Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's remastered LP or CD. I own this on both. Turn up to enjoy the quiet passages and get knocked over when it gets loud. The LP rivals the CD.

Wow - I need to give these guys a listen. I don't think I would ever, I mean "ever" looked or listened to Supertramp if it wasn't for this post and your recommendation of it. These guys look older than my dad. And for whoever's reading, my dad is old. So this is like super old looking!

I really like that first excerpt. I think they also bend the time ever so slightly to help with the dynamic effect... or maybe this is just an illusion created by the dynamics, I'm still not 100% sure. Anyone have a metronome?
