I found out there's actually a jazz trumpeter named Avishai Cohen as well, so make sure you don't accidentally purchase his music if you intend on listening to this group.

As far as jazz goes, I'll take a cohesive trio or quartet over a big band anyday. Although the former tends to lack the energy and dynamics of the latter, it also leaves infinitely more room for the musicians to creatively explore the chord changes. The key word in that first sentence is cohesive though, because I've heard many small groups that seem to think that each member can just play whatever he/she wants without listening to the other people. That's certainly not the case with this trio though; these guys know what they're doing.

Ditto my friend. I wasn't as in to the other reviews as much as I am this one. Even the clip at the top sounds more in line with what I like .

Compared to your past reviews...I've not been able to sense your pure excitement half as much as I can in this review! You might just have talked me in to checking out this "modern jazz" stuff. I've never been a huge fan of jazz, but I'm thinking I'm gonna have to check out this here Mr. Cohen...
