I've liked Technique with simpler sounds as his words are so intense. Having both intense music variations + lyrics makes it hard for the mind to pay attention + grab the material.

Because artists grow and become more creative, I think this was def a step in the upward direction rather than falling down. I read this great interview with Talib Kweli and he was asked if people think his music has gone backward since his first release. And he said - people tell him that but he doesn't understand. He said he's gotten so much better lyrically and he has way more effective flow(which I totally acknowledge and agree with). So on the same level - I think Technique has grown through this album

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Green Lantern definitely left his footprint on this album - it has more production value than did his first two releases, and you might even say a more polished sound. Personally though, I actually prefer the more bare-bones style of his earlier works.

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Friendly reminder - you can catch Technique in concert along with an all-star cast in the annual "Rock the Bells" hip-hop festival (www.guerillaunion.com/rockt... - tour begins July 19.

I was thinking you guys could add a category to the site for posting info on quality acts that are currently touring nationally... might be a lot to try to keep track of though.

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Ya - that was def a track I got uncomfortable with. There are still times I feel uncomfortable with some of his work, even though I know what to expect from him. Its kinda weird but cool at the same time.

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Yeah dude... I'll even take it a step further and let everyone know I really liked The New Danger.

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Thanks for the shoutout, Nirav. I just wanted to repeat something I mentioned in that e-mail to you - this guy's lyrics can be so raw and in-your-face at times that if you're not expecting it, it can make you feel downright uncomfortable. If you don't believe me, listen to "Dance With The Devil" (Revolutionary Vol 1) from start to end, and if after the first time through you don't feel uneasy, I'll give you a dollar (call my lawyer, he'll work out the details). Don't worry though, after the first time it starts to feel good.

P.S. Dan, your whiteness is already apparent enough without verification from a humorous website... by the way did you notice Mos Def is on that list?

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Hah - Irepress played along side with Immortal Technique in this past year. So you're not the only "white guy" who likes him. But I'm really glad you do because he's one of my top 10 favorite emcees. He's very intimidating and his tone is much harder - so I'm even more surprised that you would want to check out more of his stuff. But as always, obnoxious listeners can recognize quality over general observations!

Re: Immortal Technique | 3rd World

Let's face it, I'm pretty white and like all 10 of the top 10 items in the full list on stuffwhitepeoplelike.com ... I don't want to hurt this guy's reputation by going on the record and saying I like what I hear and I need more. So I won't do that, officially.
