ooooooooh, right....they aren't dead. 'De La Soul is Dead' is the name of their second album (1991). Got it.

And who you calling "old"? They are only like 5 years older than me...you better watch it there Nirav. ;-)

Not any significance that I'm aware of. It's just a nickname they got and it became easier to say to other artists - so it stuck.

De La is totally alive :-> . They're still on tour and perform at alot of venues. Love to see groups like this having sold out venues. Even if they're getting 'old'!

I was wondering when De La Soul was going to grace Obnoxious Hip Hop. I think their laid-back rhyming style that you mention is probably what sets them apart the most from other groups; nothing is ever forced, it just flows casually - definitely old school.
