Don't worry Dhru, "Pearse" can count the number of bands he actually likes on one hand with fingers to spare. He doesn't even have any respect for bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, or the Beatles. Apparently, I haven't developed a strong enough catalog of posts for people to respect an apparently off the wall endorsement... it's incredibly difficult for obnoxious listeners to get past a bad first impression. I'm pretty obnoxious, but I at least have an open mind... and I'm not nearly as right-winged in the musical taste scale as Pearse.

Yeah, Rolling Stone also consistently puts Kurt Cobain on all their top 100 lists (Smells Like Teen Spirit is #10 on the list you mentioned). To reference them as a source of credibility is both irresponsible and shameful to your status as an obnoxious listener.

Rolling Stone this month has the top 100 guitar songs. # 88 is John Mayer's Gravity.

I heard him live in NYC at a small concert he held to try new stuff (right before he came out with Try). I'm not going to lie, I enjoy his pop music too, but when I heard him that night play the blues it took my appreciation for his music to a whole new level.

Try is dope. Big ups Dan.

You're still stuck on the same first impression I had, then again you don't like much blues/rock anyway.... or any music really. But I bet if I some how had to power to force you to listen to TRY!, you'd at least admit to yourself (although not likely to anyone else) that John Mayer is actually a decent guitarist. This album no way resembles that pop mainstream music he first put out.
