These songs crank!!  The simplicity is an indication of extremely skillful song writing: the songs say exactly what they need to without extraneous clutter.  And one should not interpret "simplicity" as "lack of rhythmic integrity", there's plenty going on rhythmically to excite and propel the songs with energy and intensity.
